In Thrissur, Kerala, India ELF UK provided funding to construct a roof and sanitation facilities for Lokeshwari (Lekha) and her 24-year-old son, Harish (Unni Kuttan), who lives with a mental disability. The family relied entirely on a modest disability pension, as Lekha faced severe health challenges due to diabetes, which put her at risk of leg amputation. Her role as the sole caregiver for her son, combined with her deteriorating health, left her unable to work. This project significantly improved their living conditions, creating a safer and more comfortable environment while offering the family greater stability and dignity.
